You will be part of a team maintaining a high-traffic, long-lived application that serves millions of websites for our customers. It covers a wide range of functionality, including blogging, e-commerce, and websites. We encounter a wide variety of different challenges, from fully automating custom certificate provisioning, to running high-traffic DNS infrastructure to mitigating DDoS for millions of customer websites.

What you will do:

• Build efficient high quality, secure and scalable backend systems to provide features that help users to successfully share their business, projects, and ideas.
• Participate in design, architecture, implementation, support, and testing of the Creator, the most used product of Jimdo serving almost 27 million websites.
• Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Designers and Engineers to deliver a high-quality product.
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.

What we value:

• You have at least 3 years of professional experience in building web applications
• You are comfortable working in different parts of the stack (Frontend, Backend, Infrastructure)
• You have excellent software development skills in one or more of the following programming languages and technologies: PHP, JavaScript, AngularJS, React
• You have experience with relational database and schema design (e.g. MySQL, Postgres)
• You like diving into the unknown
• You know the importance of documentation and sharing knowledge

Nice to have:

• Experience in infrastructure, CI/ CD or a DevOps role
• Experience with Kotlin and/or TypeScript
• Experience with AWS
• Experience with high-scale applications
